Chapter 21: The Great Leap Forward
The King is dead! The people mourned the death of their king for several months. During this time Z-R returned to Ruha because a robbery involving some murders occurred. Are there so few crimes on Plenarius that they all must be heard and tried by the rulers of major cities? It seems that there are some subordinates that help hear cases some times, but every time there is a crime in Ruha it seems that Z-R must be the prosecutor, judge, and executioner. Which he did, execute them that is.
And then the period of mourning ended, so Z-R went back to Salemear for the coronation of Shauel, who was 1,543 years old at the time! we may yet have a long time with Z-R left.
A few months later Z-R goes to Salemear again at Shauel. Z-R thinks that this will be the king begging again for him to marry into the family and fuck some great great great... granddaughter whom we know nothing about, not even her name. For some unclear reason, Z-R isn't into this. Good news for Z-R though, Shauel doesn't want to arrange a transaction of a human woman in marriage but shares Z-R's fears for an invasion from Hamartia. To this end Shauel has formed a secret club with name cards and rings! Z-R will lead the effort to obliterate the Hamartians before they can come to Plenarius.
There is then a long chat about the various classification structures that can be used to describe ships of various sizes and capabilities. It comes down to the fact that they want to build a big ass ship to kill Hamartians with.
Z-R leaves this meeting and over hears some commoners gossip about him and it hurts his feelings.

The opening scene where the king's funeral became an hour long "Repent or else!" sermon by Theophilus gave me bad to flashbacks to the most of the funerals I've attended. Is there anything worse than a funeral that turns into a sermon? Maybe a wedding that turns into a sermon.
ReplyDeleteI was also offended that Eric the fish got minimal screen time! "I paid a visit to Eric, the fish. After making a few comments about the day, I climbed the stairs."
