Chapter 8: Your Hour of Power
"I wanted to mention something else", opens this chapter. During the course of this chapter Barar heads up a test of his new Mysterion drive in deep space. He and the ship captain hate each other, fuck up the test, and end up moving a star and then get stranded on planet in an unknown part of space. There are a lot of sci-fi tech things that are said about the Mysterion drive that just can't be followed. This seems very early, but this book already seems to be potentially the most unreadable of the trilogy, which is highly discouraging given that there are still 22 more chapters.
Will these events matter ever again to this story? We will have to wait and see, but I remain a SKEPTIC.
We are introduced to another AI named Marian in this chapter. Barar loves those AI girls! Ali is probably going to be jealous when she finds out Barar has another hot anime-style AI girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteAt one point Barar goes to the Minnow's game room, and it has "an interesting assortment of VR and a small snack corner." Obviously what this means is WE NEED A SMALL SNACK CORNER.
Let's also consider that Barar's janky ass little ship, the Minnow, is at one point dragging a collapsing star behind it. Just take a moment to let that sink in.
